Olympic 800 meter finalist Boris Berian has one of the most inspiring personal biographies in track & field.
A prodigious high school runner from the state of Colorado, Boris struggled after dropping out of college and finding himself living off a friend’s couch, working shifts in fast food. He resurfaced when a renowned running coach, who was serving as an advisor to the Big Bear Track Club, prompted a search for the seemingly lost middle distance ace. A BBTC coach located Berian through Facebook and invited him to join the group.
Boris quickly thrived in his new environment, becoming the top ranked USA half miler in 2015, the IAAF World Indoor Champion in 2016 and advancing all the way to the Olympic finals at the Rio Games.
Boris’s dramatic ‘rags-to-riches’ story was profiled by the Wall Street Journal,Sports Illustrated, Vice Media, People Magazine, the Guardian and theWashington Post and his underdg story has made him a fan favorite.
